the most wonderful time of the year...

It's been a great holiday season so far..

If you can forget about

ear infections

impetigo

sinus infections

colds...

...And the 458 dollars that slipped through my fingers and went towards Dr. visits, antibiotics, etc.

And I'm not here to complain, because I'm fully aware that there are people out there who have it extremely worse then us..

That is just life.
And really we don't have it bad at all...

Of course i am free to say that now that my antibiotics have kicked and I'm feeling like a new wife and mommy once again..

To the hubby who is in bed, just starting with a whopper of a cold or something, may feel like the whole world is out to get him...

Anyhow, its good to be feeling better and makes me in the mood to post "festivy"(i like to make up words) things...

 Parade of lights..
We attended this parade the first weekend in December..
This will get you in the Christmas spirit!!

 Hanging out before it began...
Watching for the next float to come by......

Each float and person in the parade had to have lights on it...

And like i needed another addiction in the food category...
I made this popcorn for the first time this year.. and fell in love...
Chocolate, peanut butter and popcorn in ONE bite?!..
Oh my!
And there was the making of the above said popcorn, white chocolate snack mix.. which were then packaged for fellow workers and neighbors..

I also made peppermint mocha mix for the packages..
I packaged some of them in jars which were used for gifts as well...

ready and waiting to be handed out...

One evening after bath time and when the children were clad in PJ's we headed to a park to see Christmas lights from the comfort of our vehicle..

Hearing the children oohing and ahhing over the light displays was well worth the $10 we spent to get in....

And then there was the decorations plopped here and there...
Just enough to make it feel a little bit like Christmas around here...

Don't worry..
I'll have more pictures coming...
Christmas time has just begun....
And I hope you and yours has a delightful one!!

Oh the predicaments...

.....We find ourselves in...

From time to time in our lives we...
Schedule a million things in an already full week...
Say things that would have been better not said..
And we may even find ourselves stuck in places we wish we wouldn't be...

Around here if you get stuck in a place you wish you weren't..

We may be so kind as to take your picture before we rescue you from the situation...

Humor for your week:

Brooklyn was quite concerned for her dear friend Mason...

Carter was not too impressed with the whole picture taking ordeal...

Just a reminder to think before you stick a toilet seat over your head....
Or think before you climb into a tight spot....
In other words..
Think before you plan one more thing the week before Christmas...
Think before you tell Aunt Bertha her Christmas Ham is dry....
Think before you agree to going to the in laws.. (just joking!!:))

And most of all sit back and enjoy Christmas time!!

Then till now...

Maybe I'm weird,
but i like to do little run downs from time to time...
This one is consisting of every Christmas I've spent with the guy who rocks my world...
Lucky for you i haven't known him all my life.
(the run down of pics is smaller because of it!)..
Along the way you'll notice we picked up a child and then eventually another.
We are blessed...
God has given me my dream life really.
Hello, its not perfect....
I get annoyed at each one of these precious people on these pics from time to time..
believe it or not.
I don't know what it is about this Christmas and this past Thanksgiving season though ...
I just can't stop thinking how grateful i am for all I've been blessed with...
And when i think about it..
My love grows deeper and deeper...

His very first toast...

.....Or making of toast...

This morning when he woke up i said "Carter, would you like some french toast for breakfast?"
He said "Nah, i think I'll just make myself a piece of toast" (all grown up like)

And that is the story of his life right now.
Since the other day at least.
He made his first piece of toast and that he was the coolest thing since sliced bread...
He gets out the bread, the toaster, the butter, the jelly, 2 knives, his plate and sets about his job.
I could have lost it, when he came to me, so very proud of his first ever all by himself toast making...
Where he learned to make it THIS way, i have not a clue.. but this is the exact way he makes it every single time...

Yup, gramma Smith, i was right when i said his PJ's are getting on the small side... ^ :)

He enjoys each and every bite and i enjoy the break from cooking!! :)

My little boy is growing up right before my eyes..

Last night he woke me up what seemed like 50 million times telling me his legs hurt...
Part way through the night we discovered it must be growing up pains...
Good-bye 4T clothes, hello 5T...

Hunting season...

So for you Northerner's you are most likely in the midst of hunting season...
For us Southerner's its been hunting season now for as long as we can remember.
Or should i say for us Southerner's who are hunter's wives. ;)  Just winking at my hubby- not you sorry.(Yes, he does read my blogs)

Hunting down here starts in August.. When its closer to 100 degrees then farther from it. When you have to worry about rattlesnakes and what not. And then it goes all the way to January first.

This is the time of the year when my hubby is aching, dying, longing.. When his heart is yearning.. To be IN THE WOODS!! ;) Another wink for him!!

Earlier this year he got a doe...
Or should i say.. " a big mama doe" as Carter would say... :)

Carter was full of many, many questions about this deer that was dead... ^

Brooklyn stood as far away as possible.. clenching her dress.. pretty nervous about the whole "deer night night?" thing....

The other evening Curtis came to me all proud of these pictures he took of our two little munchkins....

Future hunters? Daddy sure hopes so!! :)

Happy and safe hunting to everybody who enjoys such hobbies!!

And wonderful week to everyone as well...
Since Friday night I've been to a Christmas work supper, a Christmas parade.. And tonight we are going to hit up another Christmas parade...
Bring on the Christmas festivities!! I'm loving it!! :)

The one where we celebrate my dad....

Last weekend while we were visiting family in PA, we threw in a birthday surprise party for my Dad.
We didn't want to miss this opportunity to remind him that he is now half way to 100..:)
We sent out invites that looked like this...
Not sure of his age here... Thinking somewhere in the preteens or early teens...

P.S.. don't even try to call that RSVP number... You won't be getting a hold of Heather, trust me. I wrote the wrong number on the invites, my sister (Heather) proof read... And low and behold we got the number wrong!! Poor person with this number. And poor us, because we now didn't have a clue who was coming!!

We spent the whole day Friday being very sneaky,, Thankfully he was very busy that day and didn't even seem to notice us sneaking around.. :)

Around 6 in the evening.. my brother went to him at work and told him he needs to get ready to go... He was surprised.. Didn't have a clue about anything. That of course is fun for those planning!! :)

Stepping in the door, Mom showing him the invitation...

50 years young ^

The table above showing pictures of times past, toys from when he was a little tyke and some of his hobbies(hunting with his dog Bessie)...
Above we have the food table.
We had:
Hot buffalo wing dip
Salsa
Cheese ball
Chips and Crackers for the above
Veggies and dip
Cupcakes
Mocha Punch
Coffee

Note to self and others as well: Don't serve mocha punch at a 50 yr olds party(unless there is decaf in it!). They will love it, they will drink lots.. And it will most likely keep them up most of the night after! In this case it kept the birthday guy up!! :)

Some of the guests...

It was a fun evening for my dad .. Once he got over the whole "i don't need a  birthday party for me" idea..:)
Happy Birthday Dad.. We love you!
